Rachel Burleson Named NACDA Division II Athletic Director of the Year

On Wednesday, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced the recipients of the 2023-24 NACDA AD of the Year Awards (ADOY).
Rachel Burleson made school history as the first Franklin Pierce University athletic director to receive the prestigious award.
For 26 years, the ADOY Award has highlighted efforts of athletics directors at all levels for their commitment and positive contributions to student-athletes, campuses and their surrounding communities.
"This recognition is for the entire Franklin Pierce University team," said Burleson. "I have always believed my job is to hire people smarter than myself and let them 做好本职工作. 28 winners from seven divisions (NCAA FBS, FCS, Division I-AAA, II, III, NAIA/Other Four-Year Institutions and Junior College/Community 大学) received recognition this year with Burleson being one of just four from Division II.
"NACDA is honored to continue the tradition of the Athletics Director of the Year Award and recognize a new class of individuals for 2023-24," said Pat Manak, NACDA 首席执行官. Since her arrival in 2017, Burleson has led Franklin Pierce athletics to new heights with the addition of several new programs including women's rowing, dance/cheer, marching band, and the shift to NCAA division II for the formerly sprint football program. In addition, Burleson has worked diligently to create a winning culture backed by facility improvements, community engagement, and highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion within the department and across campus, to not only develop well-rounded student-athletes, but also well-rounded young adults who will make a difference no matter where they go after graduation.
